Firefox 3 using too much memory?
Has anyone noticed that Firefox 3 uses much more RAM than version 2?

I am running LESS plugins/addons in version 3, but it's still using more memory than version 2 used.

I had the same problem. Sometimes my FF3 uses 80k memory, which is quite a lot compared to Opera.

RE: Firefox 3 using too much memory?
Firefox is the best web browser. It is very user friendly. This web browser is faster, more secure, and fully customizable to online life. Firefox includes tabbed browsing, a spell checker, incremental find, live bookmarking, a download manager, and a search system that uses Google. Firefox runs on various versions of Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and many other Unix-like operating systems.

RE: Firefox 3 using too much memory?
No, its working memory. It stores a lot of data about the pages you've been viewing - which makes it quick to look through your recent history, but can use up a lot of RAM (which is freed up when you close the program).

RE: Firefox 3 using too much memory?
Several new technologies work together to reduce the amount of memory used by Firefox 3 over a web browsing session. Memory cycles are broken and collected by an automated cycle collector, a new memory allocator reduces fragmentation, hundreds of leaks have been fixed, and caching strategies have been tuned.
